I had a few hundred gold ready for the succession, and I started out putting only cheap ingredients in my perfume, but as the events kept on rolling in, I decided to just go balls to the wall and ended up with a decent blue. CK3 is highly likely going to have less events than CK2 since it doesn't have the 8 years of development, DLC, and free patches as CK2 has, so that's something to consider too, but my main concern is less the overall number of events and more how many will be put into the big honking event chains versus how many will be smaller random events to. Yeah, it can happen, it's just really rare.
